Chris Smyth of Skep unveils new typographic prints that play on our love of ‘limited edition’

Chris Smyth, the creative brains behind London studio Skep, has today launched his latest side project, Runof50, a collection of limited-edition black and white typographic poster prints, based on the premise that only 50 are available per design.

“The concept is certainly not a new space, in fact, it represents the simple joy of owning a piece of print communication,” Chris tells Creative Boom. “Growing up as a young designer I always loved covering my walls with work that I knew only a few others had or could get hold of. In a strange way, I felt closer to the designer, almost like I was invited into the process of the work myself. I’m a firm believer that experience shaped me as a designer and that everyone should have access to that feeling and experience.”

However, as Chris points out, limited edition prints can often sell for hundreds or even thousands of pounds, and therefore only available exclusively to the “privileged few”. For Runof50, Chris is making things more affordable and accessible.

“I celebrate the joy of the limited edition print space by bringing beautiful minimalistic poster and typographic design, in exclusive limited edition runs at an affordable price point, accessible to everyone and available to be shipped anywhere in the world,” he says.

The ever-growing series of prints are only available from runof50.com (which itself is a beautifully-designed website) and each limited to a short run of 50 prints. “Once they are gone, they are gone, no reprints, no re-runs,” Chris adds.

For those who just have to know, the print process is Giclée, the stock is 189gsm matte and each poster is 50x70cm. Each print costs just £25. To find out more about Chris Smyth and Skep, visit skep.studio.
